North West Finance MEC announces plan to address infrastructure delivery challenges | Infrastructure news

With the current infrastructure delivery challenges in the North West Province – ranging  from under spending, increasing accruals, huge project cost and time overruns  – Finance MEC, Motlalepula Rosho will implement the “No Plan No Budget” approach.

This means that only projects that are ready for implementation will be funded moving forward.

“I want to emphasise the importance of spending budget according to plans within the financial year. Allocations of Departments that do not spend accordingly, will be redirected towards critical service delivery priorities”, said Rosho when tabling the 2019/20 Provincial Budget.

The measures that MEC Rosho tabled are aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery.

She further indicated that the Provincial Government has agreed to convene the Integrated Infrastructure Planning and Implementation Lekgotla in August this year.

The Lekgotla will engage role players in the delivery of provincial infrastructure projects and will confirm projects planned for execution in 2021.

This is aimed at ensuring proper planning and execution of projects.
