Musa Ndlovu, Director at Quality Filtration Systems was recently awarded a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronic Engineering by CPUT.
Ndlovu was one of a few women to receive the degree, which is a synergistic combination of precision mechanical engineering, electronics and computer systems. “When I first ventured into the water space in 2015, I knew I had found my passion. Working in the water purification industry is a combination of my gifts and academic subjects. Realising the significance I could make in the industry, I wanted to further my education in 2019. As challenging as it was having to juggle between growing QFS, growing my family and my academic life, I reminded myself that there was never a convenient time to achieve,” says Ndlovu, who is due to have her third child shortly.“Even though the engineering world, is dominated by males, women shouldn’t shy away from the career – it’s exciting and there are plenty of opportunities for women in the field. I am convinced that tapping into brains of young female engineers could make a significant change in the water industry.”
She intends to further her studies and major in research that looks at permanent solutions that can be implemented by the Department of Water in curbing water scarcity through implementation of Intelligent Advanced Water Treatment Solutions.
