After a successful water conference held last year, Talbot & Talbot will be hosting its second event this year.
The first event held at the Assagay hotel in November 2012, proved to be a success with just under 100 attendees from the water and wastewater industry listening to key note speakers. Amongst the speakers were Dr Francois Talbot, chairman of Talbot & Talbot; Late Dr Bernard Talbot, former managing director of Talbot & Talbot; Chris Fennemore, director of eThekwini Water & Sanitation Wastewater unit; Emeritus Professor Roland Schulze from the UKZN Centre for Water Resources Research specialising in climate change and Neal Bromley, technical director of Jeffares & Green. The event took the theme of water scarcity as one of the most significant challenges facing humanity over the next century. In addition to that too the need for collaboration between both the private and public sectors in managing future water risk was highlighted. The event served as a crucial platform for pertinent discussions relating to water supply issues for the province as well as for networking between public and private water sector professionals. Â The second event of this nature will follow on from the same theme and is scheduled for the 27th June 2013 in Durban (venue to be confirmed). Topics will vary from water recovery, reuse and optimisation; regulations in the industry; and water practices of large water users.
