TotallyConcrete expo emerges out of construction industry demand | Infrastructure news

Economic growth in Sub-Saharan Africa is out-pacing the rest of the world with the region’s economy expected to grow by 6.1% in 2014.  Rapid infrastructure development is required to sustain these predicted growth estimates climbing higher as 2014 approaches.  The TotallyConcrete Expo has emerged out of industry demand as the cement, concrete and construction industry’s answer to keeping pace with future demand.

Over 80 internationally renowned speakers from over 20 countries will be at TotallyConcrete addressing current industry issues and sharing cutting edge building innovation for the African context. Funani Mojono, CEO of Lafarge Mining in South Africa, Ketso Gordhan, CEO of PPC South Africa and Dr. Stephan Olivier, CEO of AfriSam South Africa will all take part in the keynote session focussing on establishing efficient infrastructure delivery in Africa and HE Thembelani Thulas Nxesi, Minister of Public Works South Africa will give the Keynote address offering insight into South Africa’s promised R827 billion infrastructure roll-out.

PPC, platinum sponsor of the TotallyConcrete Expo, hosts the Concrete Applications conference track specially designed for engineers, contractor, architects and designers.  Abram Masango, General Manager of Eskom’s Kusile Power Station will discuss the construction of one of South Africa’s largest infrastructure projects underway today and Werner Jerling, Managing Director of Stefanutti Stocks Civils will join him to address project delivery from the contractor’s perspective.  Major infrastructure projects will also be in the spotlight with VIPs in participation from across the continent to discuss upcoming projects and tenders.  Ismael Vadi, MEC for Roads and Transport in Gauteng, South Africa will present the region’s 25-year integrated transport plan and Cesar Freitas, President of the Cape Verde Order of the Architect and Dr. Eugene Atiemo, Director of CSIR’s Building and Road Research Institute in Ghana will offer their perspectives on West African building and construction and how government and industry is keeping pace with housing and infrastructure demand.
