Goodyear will receive a 2012 Manny Award in the ‘Green Initiative’ category from Inside Business magazine, a bi-monthly Northeast Ohio-based business publication, in recognition of Goodyear’s Zero Waste to Landfill Programme.
For the past 15 years, the Manny Awards have recognised Northeast Ohio manufacturers for their accomplishments, innovation and best practices. Goodyear will receive the award on 17 May at a banquet in Cleveland. Since 2008, none of Goodyear’s 53 factories worldwide have sent any manufacturing waste to landfills, the tyre maker said. The initiative began in 2006 as a means to reduce the company’s environmental impact by requiring all plants to reduce, reuse and recycle manufacturing waste.“Goodyear believes our Zero Waste to Landfill initiative represents a responsible next step in environmental stewardship, both through the effective management of by products and also the elimination of materials going into landfills,” said Dave Chapman, Goodyear’s director of environmental, health and safety sustainability.
