The George Municipality recently hosted a ground breaking ceremony for the electrification of the Rosedale temporary relocation area (TRA).
Earlier this year the City Council of George approved the construction of 500 erven to be developed in Rosedale. According to the Municipality the Rosedale TRA will be formalised when funding approval is received from the Department of Human Settlements. Temporary services have already been installed on site including the electrification of the first 80 plots which started this week. Speaking at the ground breaking Executive Mayor of George Charles Standers, says the municipality decided to use its own construction team to expedite the process.The municipality also identified temporary workers from the community to work on the project.
According to the municipality the foundation for the high mast light is already cast and the masts have been delivered, with their installation expected to take place this month. The mini- substation’s foundation has been completed and the cable trench for the 11 000 volt cable is being dug. The municipality has confirmed that the tender process is underway for the appointment of a contractor for the electrification of the rest of the region.
