Chris Campbell was appointed as the new CEO of Consulting Engineers South Africa (CESA) CEO, effective from 1 December.
The position has been filled by acting CEO Wally Mayne since January when former CEO Lefadi Makibinyane resigned the post in to become CEO of Amatola Water. Manye will return to his position as contractual affairs manager in December 2015. Cambell told delegates at the CESA Infrastructure Indaba 2015, “I look forward to interacting with all of you when I can. Let’s see how we can make the quantum leap in our profession and professional environment to build a South Africa that our grandchildren can be proud of.”CESA president said, “We thank Wally for his sterling job in captaining the CESA ship during his tenure as acting CEO. He has stabilised the directorate and laid a solid base for Chris to continue.”
Campbell brings with him a wealth of experience in the sector, having served as president of the Engineering Council of South Africa, as well as other prolific positions, vice president of the World Federation of Engineering Organisations between 2011 and 2015. Campbell is an ardent supported of mentor-ship within the engineering profession, stating in an interview that “Engineering is an applied science, once you get your degree you have to go out and apply that knowledge to develop your competence and be eligible for registration with regulatory bodies such as ECSA.”
