The South African National Roads Agency (Sanral) has appointed Louw Kannemeyer as its new Engineering Executive.

The position was previously held by Koos Smit who retired at the end of February.  Kannemeyer had been acting in this position to date.

He was the Network Manager at Sanral which meant he was responsible for the strategic management of the national road network of South Africa, currently consisting of more than 22 000km.

Making a meaningful contribution

“In his new role he will be responsible for the coordination and management of all technical disciplines within the organisation. This includes overseeing all activities to ensure the efficient and sustainable administration of the national road network to the benefit of all road users,”Sanral explains.

As the engineering executive, he is required to identify opportunities for partnering with public entities, government departments and commercial organisations to execute the Sanal mandate. This is to be done using channel integration techniques within the current funding parameters and legal framework.

“I’m excited about my appointment as Engineering Executive at Sanral. I look forward to making a meaningful contribution during my tenure and forging new and strengthening existing relationships within the engineering community which will improve Sanral’s contribution to the transformation and growth of the country,” says Kannemeyer.
