Lepelle Northern Water (LNW) team of engineers and contractor has completed the replacement of the old sections and commissioning of the new pipelines that were at risk in the Mankweng area.
As of 6:00 am this morning, 20 November 2024, the LNW team of engineers and the contractor, Cerimele Construction Company, completed the commissioning of Megoring and Thakgalang River Crossings (Mankweng area) within the Ebenezer Scheme. The plan was to complete it within 36 hours as scheduled, but the team successfully completed it within 24 hours, averting an extended water shutdown for 48 hours. All the steel pipe welding and backfilling of material have been certified to proceed with line filling. Water has slowly been released to allow safe and careful line filling, the higher laying area will start receiving water later this evening.Chief Executive Officer of LNW, Dr Cornelius Ruiters, said, “I feel proud of our LNW team of engineers, together with the Cerimele Construction team, who worked tirelessly throughout the days and nights non-stop to complete work within 24 hours instead of the planned 36 hours. This is the kind of LNW that we have come to appreciate, completing projects on time and within budget. Expected benefits are that Polokwane Municipality will receive clean, sustainable, and reliable water from LNW.”
