Rand Water wishes to inform its customers of a major burst on the B4 Pipeline, affecting water supply to the Palmiet Booster Pumping Station. The incident occurred at 06:00 on Thursday, 6 August 2026. As a result of the incident, pumping operations at the Palmiet Booster Pumping Station have been reduced to 70% of normal capacity. This reduction may affect water supply to areas served by the station.
The Palmiet Booster Pumping Station supplies water to the Cities of Johannesburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni as well as the Madibeng Local Municipality. Technical teams are currently on site and the pipeline is being isolated to enable repair work. At this stage, the full extent of the damage is still unknown. The estimated time of repair will be communicated once the assessment has been completed and the scope of the required repairs has been determined. Rand Water assures customers that every effort is being made to repair the pipeline and restore pumping operations to normal as quickly and safely as possible.Further updates will be communicated as more information becomes available through Rand Water’s official social media platforms.
