A regional gold trophy and national finalist certificate have been awarded to water reticulation, drainage pipe and fitting systems manufacturer DPI Plastics, at the Productivity SA Awards.

The awards aim to promote productivity within South African industry and raise awareness about the role of productivity in growing and developing the country’s economy, and to increase South Africa’s competitiveness on a global scale.

DPI Plastics was a Gauteng regional winner for the best implementation of the ‘Work Place Challenge’ initiative from Productivity SA and national finalist in the Corporate Sector category of the awards.

The Workplace Challenge (WPC) programme is Productivity SA’s best operating practice/world-class manufacturing programme, and is a supply side programme of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The WPC consists of four modules that are implemented over a two to three year period.

DPI Plastics in Gauteng has implemented the first three modules which include, Goal Alignment, Cleaning and Organising and Teamwork, and the fourth module, Leadership, will be done in early 2015.

DPI Plastics production manager Napoleon Potlo says that being nominated as a national finalist has shown that the company is moving forward.

“I see a bright future for this programme within DPI Plastics. I believe that it will carry the company to the next level and continue to foster a culture of continuous improvement and employee empowerment,” he concludes.
