Top European waste management practices on show in SA | Infrastructure news

The latest international waste and recycling expertise and technology will be on show at the newly-launched exhibition, Waste and Recycling Africa 2015.

“We partnered with a major Italian exhibitions company – Rimini Fiera – to bring the latest waste and recycling expertise and technology to Southern Africa,” says John Thomson of Exhibition Management Services (EMS), the event organisers.

The show forms part of South Africa’s massive 12-shows-in-one SA Industry and Technology Fair (Indutec), comprising 12 co-located events targeting the manufacturing, engineering, water, petrochemical, plastics, energy, efficiency, waste and recycling sectors.

“The Indutec show’s multi-sector focus and international networking reach makes it a highly effective platform for people and companies in the industry to find new products, services, suppliers, markets, business opportunities and customers, at one comprehensive event.”

Global expertise, practical solutions

Rimini Fiera organises Ecomondo, the world’s second largest green technologies environmental expo.

It focuses on the complete waste cycle, from identification, segregated collection, management, recycling and energy exploitation, to the recovery of inert waste such as noble metals, critical minerals, to domestic and industrial waste, and electrical and electronic equipment.

“The continent faces a crisis and needs practical, implementable solutions,” explains Thomson. “The primary problems are low levels of waste systems maintenance, insufficient investment in new infrastructure, and a serious lack of recycling awareness, from government to grassroots.

“The Waste and Recycling Africa expo will introduce new European suppliers and technologies to the African waste management and recycling industry, and also present workshops on European current best practice for local industry members,” concludes Thomson.

This new exhibition makes its début at Indutec at Gallagher Convention Centre, Midrand from 20-22 May 2015.
