Meeting application challenges from robust or sensitive aquifers | Infrastructure news

Whatever the well-fed water supply application, Grundfos has a SP submersible pump or system for the job, ranging from robust, confined aquifers with minimal system requirements to wells bored to sensitive aquifers, seawater, and groundwater lowering or mining applications.

These demanding applications may require stainless steel variants, corrosion free components and an optimised system with variable speed control and remote management.

If the correct stainless steel version is selected, SP pumps have increased resistance to corrosive well water.

Grundfos SP pumps contain liquid lubricated bearing systems that in water – without particle content – ensure service intervals of approximately 25 000 hours of operation before it is necessary to lift the pump for wear parts replacement; if the reason for lifting and cleaning of the pumps and pipes is not clogging caused by iron ochre.

If submersible cables of the highest quality are required, Grundfos supplies blue TML submersible cables, which do not absorb water and can cope with operating temperatures of up to 80° C. The cable kit and cable clips are the best available on the market.

Grundfos offers more than just a pump; we offer a complete solution adapted to the application on hand.

For example, if the water utility has problems with corrosion in pipes or other installations, Grundfos can supply fitted Zink anodes that will help these issues, and we offer a complete range of flow sleeves to be used in large diameter wells to ensure proper motor cooling.

Meeting application challenges

For water supply drawn from a robust confined aquifer with no primary pollutants and no risk of drawdown an SP submersible pump is the obvious choice and can last for many years
