Rand Water reduces water supply to Mpumalanga municipalities | Infrastructure news

Rand Water has reduced water supply to two Mpumalanga municipalities who failed to make payments for services rendered.

In a statement released on Wednesday the utility said that water pressure to the Victor Khanye Municipality and the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality had bene reduced.

The water pressure to the Victor Khanye Municipality has been reduced by 60%, and according to Rand Water areas including Delmas, Botleng, Eloff and Sundra will be affected by the reduced water pressure.

“The expected amount payable by the Victor Khanye Local Municipality is R 85 991 496. 32 and it is due on 31 January 2019,”the utility noted.

The water pressure to the Govan Mbeki Local Municipality has been reduced by 40-percent and areas expected to be affected by the reduced water pressure include Bethal, Embalenhle, Leandra and Kinross.

“The expected amount payable by Govan Mbeki Local Municipality is R87 730 975. 23 and it is due on 31 January 2019,”Rand Water confirmed.
