More than 20 million of litres of water have been delivered to the North West Province through water tankering.
“Some of the drought mitigation measures to address water shortages include ground water source development, rehabilitation of boreholes to augment supply, improvement of operating rules for dams, and improvement of early warning system as currently Molatedi Dam managed by Sedibeng Water and Botswana Water Utilities Corporation is already under restricted operation.”
The acting Regional Head, Dr Tseliso Ntili mentioned that the Office of the Premier has developed a drought communication strategy so as to strengthen public awareness and communication with communities. The Minister of Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane has also presented the drought management plan to the Bokone Bophirima executive Committee Lekgotla earlier this month.
